Location: Qingdao, China Job Summary We are hiring an Industrial Designer with solid experience in equipment design and prototyping, ideally within the oil storage, energy, or industrial logistics sectors. The selected candidate will be responsible for turning ideas and functional concepts into precise, manufacturable designs, supporting the development of custom-engineered systems such as venting units, skids, pumping modules, ship/shore connectors, and automation assemblies. This position is design-focused, but includes occasional field visits to local manufacturers and suppliers to align designs with fabrication best practices. You will work closely with our internal engineering and operations teams, and interact with selected partners in China. Key Responsibilities · Design and develop prototypes and custom equipment using AutoCAD Inventor. · Translate initial concepts, sketches, or verbal input into functional and optimized 3D models. · Generate fabrication drawings, BOMs, and assembly documents suitable for workshop production. · Support the development of systems such as: o Mobile pumping skids o Drainage and venting solutions o Modular automation or connection units o Ship-to-shore hose or pipe assemblies · Collaborate with engineers to ensure that designs meet mechanical and operational performance requirements. · Participate in field visits to local suppliers and fabricators when needed to support manufacturability, procurement, and quality. · Liaise with Chinese suppliers to clarify technical drawings and production details. · Maintain up-to-date design libraries and component records, and support integration into ERP/BOM systems. Requirements · Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or similar technical discipline. · Minimum 2 years of experience in design and prototyping of industrial equipment. · Proficient in AutoCAD Inventor; experience with AutoCAD Mechanical and the Autodesk suite is an advantage. · Understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and common manufacturing techniques (sheet metal, machining, welding, etc.). · Able to work from non-engineering briefs and deliver precise, practical solutions. · Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese. Preferred (Nice to Have) · Experience in oil, energy, or industrial logistics equipment. · Exposure to small automation, modular skids, and low-volume industrial production. · Familiarity with fabrication shop practices, welding symbols, tolerances, and simplification for manufacture. · Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Odoo) and BOM structuring. · Knowledge of rapid prototyping tools (e.g., 3D printing, laser cutting) is a bonus.
